"Bad quality of teaching and facilities"

Arlen Barril, student from Chile

I liked that they were flexible with the teaching hours, I didn't like the facilities and that every employee of the school instead speaking in English to help improve that abilities would speak in whatever language the students or other member of the faculty they speak in those languages. I heard more spanish that English.

"Not prefessional enough. Need to improve the level."

Maxime Le Guyader, student from France

B2 level is not B2. It is very low levels because anyone can subscribe to any course even if they don't have the level for. There should be a entry test level for every person. However the teachers give their best and are really willing to help everyone, there is a very personable follow-up. Moreover, the staff is very nice and helpful. The activities proposed are very nice and gives a good first integration into London. The Business class has a excellent level, and the teachers were absolutly incredible. A shame that it couldn't fit to my shcedule.

"Very good experience"

Roberto Morales, student from Chile

Speak Up London, is very well located, the place is comfortable in general. The groups were small, the teachers are very good and friendly and good environments are generated.

I need to have more material, the books used (my course was intensive) should make them available to the students at the beginning and / or indicate how to buy them before arriving, that would help a lot in the learning process. The Internet a little complicated, but with help we solve it

I would repeat it again and I am evaluating taking classes on Skype.

"I'm happy to study with Speak Up London; now I know great people and busy teachers."

Salome Blanco Lopez, student from Spain

I began on Intermediate course because I only did one online test. When I arrived to Speak London nobody speaks with me about another level test. At 9:00 I was in my assigned classroom and I knew my classmates and teacher. The teacher was good.

My classmates had all kind of levels: some a good level, better than me, other a low level, worst than me. That's not a problem, except when I had to speak with some of their who didn't say nothing.

On the second class, because I had an intensive course, quickly, the teacher heard me and asked me to change my level to upper intermediate.

My time on the school I went to intermediate in my first lesson, some times with 16 classmates in a small and warm room; and I went to upper intermediate lesson for my second class. There, I have known great mates with who I keep contact now.

This summer with the enormous problem of noise for works in neighboring buildings, I could enjoy two breakfast-lessons with Ana. One of them about poetry, and another about food, and I am very glad with this lessons where I learned knew english skills.

The lessons, in general, were interesting and dynamic. The homework was affordable. The school's situation in the city is good, but the building is really old (1886) and de toilets was not enough and sometimes out of order. It would be fantastic if the school was a big room where to have a cup of te, because when it rains, and it rains several times, it is hard to have a te in 15 minutes break.
The wifi works well, but no the computers, not enough too. The same room for computers is the room to take our snack.
I was living in a hostel, I can't say nothing about the housing, and I didn't know anyone housing by this school.

"This experience was unforgettable, I had learned a lot of new things."

Karina Younes, student from Russia

About the school, everything was great, but the accommodation was not very comfortable, because it was so far from the school, it took me an hour to get to the school, plus the WiFi connection was very bad. I had to go the living room to be able to use it.

Abel Abdallah CHALLOT, student from France

The lessons were very interesting. The teachers were professionals. The speaking class was a very good experience. The exchange among the students were good but some teachers use it a lot so they don't provide much to students.
Generally, It was a very good experience.

Amora Muldovi, student from Germany

The school was very good. I stayed in this school for 12 weeks. It was awesome. The teachers were very friendly and also the students. The location of the school is brilliant. The price is excellent. Some student from other language schools switched to Speak Up London. You will get your money's worth in this school. I would recommend it everyone.

"The best experience"

Khawla Rashed, student from Saudi Arabia

The classes were helpful in a lot of ways. I liked the speaking classes as well. The teachers were good and friendly. They did their best to help you.

I liked the location cause it was in the middle of London and everything was near there. The activities, like having a gathering in a lounge, were really helpful as well to communicate with different people. This helped with our speaking.

This experience improved my speaking a lot, and also helped me to know more about grammar.

Thank you Speak Up London for all the good times I had there. I'll be there again one day to learn more.

"What I had wished for"

Natalia André, student from Belgium

Classes: I think the classes were interesting, but they weren't exactly what I needed. We learned how to write a cover letter and how to prepare for an interview to get a job. In fact, I already have a job and what I have to improve on is the conversation. For example - conversation on the phone with clients. I know this class proposed this type of exercise, but unfortunately it was not this way during my stay in London.

Schedule: The schedule was a positive. I was on holiday and I could sleep later than ordinary. It was difficult though to have a normal lunch, and difficult to enjoy the Museum.

Teacher: I liked the teacher because he was really involved and dynamic.

Location: It was a nice location. It was close to everything, and it was easy to find - I have nothing negative to say about it.

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

If you are studying in the UK for over 11 months, you will receive a reference number called a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) that you need to submit to the UK embassy along with your General Student Visa application. Students who have successfully booked a language course and have paid their fees will receive a CAS from . Please note that UK law states that a CAS can only be issued to students who intend to pursue English language studies for over 11 months.

If you are studying in the UK for 11 months or less, you have to apply for a special visitor visa called a Student Visitor Visa. As a student visitor, you will not be able to work part-time while studying. If you plan to study in the UK for 11 months or less, a letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you. If you wish to receive your paperwork by express mail, you will be charged £ 50 when you register.

Flights and airport transfer

Please note that we do not book flights for our students. If you are researching airfare costs, we recommend using Kayak.com, a search engine that lets you compare flight options from your home country to London based on your budget, schedule and preferences.

Study abroad worry-free with Language International's health and personal effects insurance coverage. When you book a course with us, you can opt to purchase an international insurance plan that covers not only your health care cost but also loss of your personal belongings. Questions and answers

Have questions? Get answers from Speak Up London staff, Language International student advisors, and past students.

Ask a question

"I have a prospective student from France who would like to study at Avenue English. Is it possible to do this course for 16 weeks?"

Vivi van Ketel, Avenue English school representative

Yes, it is possible to take the course for 16 weeks.

Was this helpful? Yes

"Could you find a home stay or residence or any housing possibility near the school?"

Marie Masquelier , student from Belgium

We have some students residences in zone 1. In regards to home stay, just few families are available in zone 1 and should be booking with months in advance. As this booking is for summer, I reckon that should not be a problem to find it, but I do not promise that I can get it, as those hosts are subject to availability. It will be really close but it will not be within a stone's throw away from the school, public transport is always needed here.

Was this helpful? Yes

"I have a prospective student from Saudi Arabia we would like to send some documents to your school. Does he need to pay registration and courier fee separately for each course?"

In regards to this student enquiry, there is probably a mistake as he has chosen European prices with no visa for the General English course. I can add both courses in the same SVV letter, so we do not need to charge twice the courier fee. Registration fee is just needed to register at school, so just one payment is required, please do not charge twice this admin fee.

Was this helpful? Yes

"The student is from Venezuela and she needs CADIVI approval to obtain funds for the course. To get this approval from the Venezuelan government she needs a stamped and signed letter of acceptance that includes a detailed class schedule and also a breakdown of the price of the course. The letter must be translated to Spanish. Can you prepare this letter for our student?"

Yes We deal with CADIVI .

Was this helpful? Yes

"Regarding housing, she does not mind taking transportation and I explained how big London is. She just wants to be as close as possible and preferably in a nice area of London. Home stay is her favorite pick, with or without board. Her level is higher than full beginner, she is just shy ."

Marie Masquelier , student from Belgium

I have found something in zone 1 for your student scared of long distances. Please find it attached and let me know if she is happy with that. If she is, I strongly recommend her to book as soon as possible, otherwise it can goes easily due to the high demand we have in summer.

Was this helpful? Yes

"He will indeed turn 18 one month after the beginning of the course."

benoit crisias, student from France

Unfortunately we cannot accept this student as he does not fulfill the criteria required for students enrolled at Speak Up.

Was this helpful? Yes

"I have a prospective student from Spain who would like to study at Speak Up London. Are books and material fees included in the prices? Is the test fee included? Can the student take the test in your school or she will go to another center? Is there an exam date near the termination of this student's course?"

If this student is from Spain, she does not need any visa so the price for her would be cheaper. All the materials are included in the price. If the student requires a book to study at home apart from the material provided, she have to give a deposit, which is totally refundable when they give the books back. Exam fee is not included, they have to book it here minimum one moth in advance to do in a Cambridge official center. We provide all the information requested about what steps to follow.

Was this helpful? Yes

"Could you tell me the exact address of your school, Is it on the 2nd floor or on the 4th floor?"

Nerea G, student from Spain

We actually owns both floors, 2nd and 4th. And we will be able to allocate more students soon in another floor that we recently acquired. I will keep you updated about this.
