FOOD
Your homestay mothers will make delicious food for you most mornings and evenings. Some of the local favorites include many varieties of seafood, puntillitas and tortillitas of various shapes and sizes, and, of course, tapas. Some days the group will also go on evening outings to local restaurants or outdoor picnics.
HOMESTAY LIFE
No one will better introduce you to the Spanish culture than your homestay family. Their home, which is typically located a short walk from our language school in the city’s center, will be the focal point of your study abroad experience. Though you will live with your hosts for the duration of the program, you do not spend every afternoon and evening “at home.” The program itinerary balances time with your family and time with the Abbey Road group.
On average, you’ll spend 3-4 evenings per week at home enjoying dinner and activities with your hosts or attending family events; the remaining evenings are spent with the entire Cádiz program group.
You will be part of our Abbey Road family, making new friends, learning to be independent and self-reliant, to share responsibilities with your peers, manage your time, and getting ready for college years!

Cádiz is located along the beautiful Costa de la Luz on the Atlantic
Coast of Andalusia, Spain’s southernmost region. The oldest
inhabited city in Western Europe, Cádiz was founded over 3,000
years ago and today is characterized by narrow streets, colorful
homes, bustling markets and breathtaking beaches.
Popular with young people and families from all over Spain,
Andalusia is widely known for its unique cultural and historical
legacies. Full of native vacationers as opposed to foreign tourists,
the city affords our students an untainted view into the southern
Spanish language and culture.
Our Cádiz homestay program is designed for students seeking
intensive Spanish immersion, with the option of participating in a
wide range of elective classes and specialty workshops.
Homestays are carefully selected and offer students the opportunity to learn more about the local culture in a comfortable setting while studying Spanish in Cadiz. These homes are often between 25 - 50 minutes away from the school by public transport. Families usually offer affordable meal plans that allow you to sample the local cuisine. If you have special requests or diet restrictions (because of religion or health reasons), please let us know in advance. Your housing starts on the Sunday before your first day of class and ends on the Saturday after your last day of class, unless otherwise noted. Learn more about homestay housing
