Course description

Small Group Spanish Course (Maximum 6 Students)

Our Small Group Spanish Course is designed for students who want the perfect balance between personalized attention, dynamic interaction, and affordable pricing. With a maximum of only 6 students per group, each participant has the opportunity to actively practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing in a supportive and highly interactive environment.

At Celas Maya, every student begins with a placement evaluation and learning profile assessment to ensure they are placed in the most appropriate level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Classes are carefully organized by level and learning objectives to maximize progress and participation.

Our communicative 75/25 methodology encourages students to use Spanish actively from the very first day. Approximately 75% of class time is focused on student participation through conversations, practical exercises, role plays, discussions, and real-life communication activities, while 25% is dedicated to teacher guidance, explanations, and correction.

This course is ideal for:

Students who enjoy learning collaboratively
Travelers and study abroad participants
Adults and university students seeking immersive Spanish practice
Learners who want more speaking opportunities without the intensity of one-to-one instruction
Students interested in cultural exchange with classmates from different countries

Classes are taught by experienced native Spanish teachers in a warm and professional academic environment in Quetzaltenango. Students also have access to extracurricular cultural activities, local immersion experiences, and optional homestay accommodation with Guatemalan families to reinforce language acquisition beyond the classroom.

Whether you are studying Spanish for travel, professional development, academic purposes, or personal growth, our small group format offers an engaging, effective, and culturally rich learning experience in Guatemala.

At Celas Maya
, our homestay program is designed to provide students with a safe, comfortable, and authentic cultural immersion experience in Quetzaltenango. All host families are located within walking distance of the school and in the surrounding neighborhoods, allowing students to move easily between their accommodation and classes without the need for transportation.

Students stay in carefully selected Guatemalan homes where they can experience daily life, traditions, and genuine interaction with local families. The most important aspect of the homestay experience at Celas Maya is communication and cultural exchange, helping students practice Spanish naturally outside the classroom.

Host families provide three daily meals, offering students the opportunity to enjoy traditional Guatemalan cuisine and learn more about the country’s culinary culture. Meals often include local ingredients, homemade dishes, and regional specialties from the Guatemalan highlands.

To support students’ health and well-being, the school also provides purified drinking water through an ozone purification system. We encourage students to bring reusable water bottles or containers and refill them at the school throughout the day.
