Atlanta is the capital and most polulated city in the U.S. state of Georgia. Atlanta is a top business city and a primary transportation hub for the Southeastern United States. It is also the world headquarters to several very large global companies including Coca-Cola, AT&T, CNN, and Delta Air Lines to name a few. The land was once owned by Native American tirbes, and the area that became the Atlanta Metropolitan area was obtained from the Cherokee Indians and Creek Indians by settlers in 1822. During the U.S. Civil War, Atlanta served as the hub for the distribution of military supplies, because of its well-developed railways. Nowadays, students interested in attending English school in Atlanta will be able to enjoy a more modern city, with a long history and lots of personality. Students taking English courses in Atlanta will also enjoy the weather here in Georgia – although the summers do get very hot, the winters here are much more mild than the northern portions of the United States. While in Atlanta students can attend professional sporting events such as basketball, American football, and baseball; visit one of their many museums; or take a tour inside CNN’s studios. There are plenty of activities to enjoy and places for students to practice their new English skills while studying in Atlanta.
