The city of Albuquerque is the largest city in the state of New Mexico. In the square, there is a gazebo and an old church, each adding to the ambiance of the area. Check out the vendors selling their handmade goods in the square for the chance to purchase some interesting Southwestern pieces. Be sure to visit the ABQ Bio Park during your stay. It is home to a botanical garden, an aquarium and a zoo, all having unique and beautiful exhibits. The Petroglyph National Monument is another interesting excursion. It protects a number of natural and cultural sites including approximately 24,000 carved petroglyph images. Students takingEnglish courses in Albuquerque might like to take a trip on the Sandia Peak Tramway. Located on the eastern edge of Albuquerque, the tramway takes visitors to an observation deck atop Sandia Peak for an amazing view of the Rio Grande Valley. For students lucky enough to be in town during the month of October, be sure to attend the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival. It is the world’s largest hot air balloon festival, and visitors can expect to see more than 700 balloons in the ski at one time.
