Ask a questionThis depends completely on what her target IELTS score is. If she has intermediate level, we presume her level to be around 4.5 - 5.0 in IELTS if we have an indication of what she is aiming for then we can of course advise how long it might typically take. The minimum course duration for an IELTS course is 4 weeks.
Here is the official information about how long it typically takes - studying full-time in the UK - the improve an IELTS score:-The most recent evidence indicates an average of 1 band increase in 14 weeks for females and 0.8 band increase in 14 weeks for males. Across all level, nationalities and ages, the average increase is 0.5 points in 7.8 weeks.
Now, from this you can see that if your client is Intermediate (IELTS 4.5 - 5.0 now) then an average performance would be for her to reach 7.0 after 8 months of study - i.e. if she started now she would typically expect to reach IELTS 7.0 by Christmas. Now, at Severnvale, because of small classes and expert teaching we expect our clients to progress up to 50% faster than this, so we would aim for 20-24 weeks. But even at this outstanding rate of progress, reaching 7.0 by the end of August - from an intermediate starting level - is not realistic, I'm afraid. Remember that IELTS 7.0 is above CAE level - it's between C1 and C2 level, and that's a high level to reach from a B1 starting point...
The only thing she can really do is start now and work hard enough to be a truly exceptional student in terms of progress - because she would need to be absolutely exceptional to reach 7.0 in this time.
Sorry, but - we can't pretend that we can guarantee an increase of this magnitude in this length of time... no school can.
